Most people call this (erroneously) a Gladstone Bag, but it is in fact properly called a Kit Bag.
This is entirely hand-stitched. Bark-tanned cow leather with kangaroo leather trim, built on an Italian Kitbag frame. Pigskin lining.
Another masochistic pursuit.
Circa around 1981

Same bag; same masochist; different aspect

Here we have a "bucket bag" in wet-moulded cow leather.
Polished pig leather lining and self-made deer horn strap "buttons"

And the reverse side of the same bag above ....
just love that grain effect. It's from the belly of the beast: less dense leather ... not good structural quality, but because the whole bag was strongly tricked out with dense kangaroo hide trim and lining was well-glued to the reverse of that hide, the bag retains strong integrity and enhances the hide's character

Another one of those kit bags. Same construction; same frame. Same masochist maker
